Regulatory Status: RufusRx is a Clinical Decision Support (CDS) tool that applies physician-defined rules and presents recommendations for the physician's independent review. It does not independently analyze, interpret, or recommend clinical actions beyond the physician's own protocols, and therefore is not intended to meet the definition of a medical device under FDA regulations. The physician remains the learned intermediary making all clinical determinations and completing every approval.
Controlled Substances: RufusRx always routes controlled substance (Schedule II-V) refill requests to physician review and never pre-clears them. The healthcare provider is solely responsible for compliance with DEA regulations, state prescription monitoring programs, and all controlled substance laws.
